Samuel Dixon ( IRISH ) Circa 1755   " His very best works "

Rare opportunity to purchase the bery best of Samuel Dixon`s speciality .

Known in the Eighteenth Century for his delicate hand in producing his individual art form " embossed pictures of wild bird life " with flora . He managed to capture the imagination of the wealthy upper classes who clamoured for the artistry of his water colouring in basso-relievo ( embossed papier-mache` )

Listed as a picture dealer in Capel Street, Dublin , Ireland , he produced mainly sets of prints , starting at first featuring floral arangements , following on later to copyng George Edward`s Natural History of Uncommon Birds .

This particular pair, one of a Pheasant and a Hen , the other a Rainbow Pheasant , have retained their original bright colours and are bordered by the better of all his frames - ebonised with gilt trellis work and floral decoration .

In superb condition.
