Fine Example of a Chippendale Director Period Expertly Carved Mahogany Salon - Library Desk Chair . Using the cabriole leg so often seen in the French Louis XV Period and of particular high quality carving suggesting a maker with talent and expertise to equal the very best of makers.

RECENT IMPORTANT DISCOVERY  A chair very probably from the same suite is in the collection of the V&A Museum (W.42-1947) and given to the museum by Mr Lycett-Green in 1947 . The V&A example is illustrated in R..Edwards . English Chairs, London 1970 fig 66 .
