GEORGE 111 Period  Mahogany Kidney- Shaped Writing Table

Ths shaped top with a ratcheted book rest with a hidden release mechanism to the rear of the table , above a single frieze drawer , on stile end supports joined by a rectangular stretcher, on downward swept legs terminating in scroll feet .

The whole of which has an exraordinary good colour with a fabulous natural patination ....retaining the original axe head design drop handles .

Of note are the two simillar tables of the same suite which are recorded as in the collection of Queen Charlotte at Kew Palace . Descrbed as " a very neat Mahogany Horse Shoe Reading Table made the same form as Her Majesty at Kew " at a cost of £4 14 shillings 6 pence .
